This is a twist on conventional reading. The main character is from a human mother and a fictional father (the mother's creation), making him half human/half fictional. This allows him to move between two worlds (reality and fiction). Diogenes Ra gets into trouble when Sherlock Holmes decides to go missing and has to be back in his world within a certain period of time. In searching for Sherlock, other characters are popping up all over the place! How did they get here is the mystery Diogenes must solve.It's fun to read and you never know what's gong to happen along the way. It will be fun to see what adventures Diogenes gets into as this series develops!

I loved it! It is a shorter piece with a complicated story, which is rare to see. It left me wondering about some things, which I love. It makes you think! I hope to see a second book so I can continue getting to know a few of these characters better! Don't let the complicated vocabulary scare you when you open the book. I learned a few new words while reading, but that is part of the joy of reading after all! Definitely worth reading...perhaps more than once!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if the world of fiction blended with the real world? Highly talented author Joseph Lamere explores this concept in DRAMATIS PERSONAE PUBLIC DOMAIN. Diogenes Ra, the protagonist of the book, knows that a "ghost world" exists, which enables him to extract fictional characters. Sherlock Holmes and Superman's hometown of Metropolis are utilized during crossovers between fiction and reality. The book zips along at a brisk pace and holds the reader's interest! The book's mind-bending concept and intriguing scenes create a genuine page-turner! Highly recommended!
Is anything worth face value anymore? Love, the right kind is hopefully worth more, but as for cash, politics, and the truth... These things are devalued more every time someone in the news says, trust me. But what about fiction? Are the characters and places in a story fabric or fantasy? Whole cloth or Hydrox? Joseph Lamere has taken yesteryear's bookshelf and shaken it up and what came of was a brilliant story. One that introduces the idea that Fiction just might be a real place. I will admit it was much different that what I've been reading as of late and a bit of reaclimatizing was necessary, but within a few pages I was hooked. This book will be loved by anyone who loves classic fiction or classic pulp and beloved by all who long to read a great story with something different. Highly recommended!
Imagine if you had the power to enter fictional worlds and once there meet and bring back famous characters. That’s exactly what Diogenes Ra can do; with ease. At an early age, while visiting a Hollywood movie set with his mother, Diogenes somehow stepped through a portal and met his fictional heroes from a very popular space opera movie. By the time he grows up, Diogenes soon learns his ability to bring these make-believe figures into our world is a very profitable talent.
All of know of agencies that rent out Look-Alike actors for private partiers. If you want Tom Cruise, they have someone who looks like Cruise’s mirror image, and for the proper fee, he will liven up your gathering. Etc. Etc. Etc. Whereas Diogenes doesn’t offer doubles, he is giving his clients the real McCoys. Alas, somewhere along his highly public dealings, Diogenes came to the attention of the military. They begin envisioning a cadre of agents able to cross back and forth at will. Aware of their clandestine agendas, he is naïve in believing there is no way his abilities can be duplicated.
He’s proven wrong as one series of misadventures soon begins following another like a set of falling dominos. First Sherlock Holmes disappears in New York for several hours leaving Diogenes scrambling to learn his whereabouts and get him back to Victorian London fast. Shortly thereafter, Don Juan, on a crossover for an undergraduate student, is stung by a genetically altered bee and nearly dies. Diogenes begins to suspect the General he is working with is manipulating these events and is about to unleash his own hidden dimensional-hopping superhero.
And if that wasn’t enough to keep Diogenes scrambling, elements from his own mysterious past begin to resurface. Could his father be a fictional character his mother, a writer, invented? And if so, does that make Diogenes half-real and half-fiction?? Honestly, dear readers, Lamere’s story is one wonky, fun, head-trip that had me chuckling all the way through. It is one of the most original ideas ever put forth and works beautifully in the context of the adventure. I, for one, would really like to see more of Diogenes Ra and his exploits. Once you’ve read DRAMATIS PERSONAE – Public Domain, I’m betting you will too.
